Farm dam construction, clean-outs and repairs

If a dam is holding less water than it used to, the cause may be silt, erosion, wall damage, spillway problems or another issue on the site. The right work depends on what is happening and how the dam is used.

what we take on

Clean-outs and reshaping: Removing accumulated silt and reshaping the dam where required.

Wall repairs: Repairing damaged or eroded sections of the wall and rebuilding affected batters where this forms part of the scope.

Spillways and overflow: Building or repairing spillways and overflow paths so water can leave the dam in a controlled way.

New dams: Excavating and forming new farm dams, subject to the site, design and any approval requirements.

Erosion work: Repairing erosion around the dam, inflow and overflow areas where required.

Planning the work: Access, water level, ground conditions, spoil placement and approvals all need to be considered before dam work starts.

Approvals: Some dam work may require approval, depending on the size, location, catchment and whether a waterway is involved. Check the requirements for the property and proposed work before construction begins.

Areas we cover

Farm and rural property dam work across Warragul, Drouin, Yarragon, Trafalgar and West Gippsland. Also South Gippsland farms and properties across the Mornington Peninsula.

Before: We work on dams that are choked with weeds and not holding water.

A dam clogged with weeds and looking half empty sits in a rural property surrounded by green hills and trees.

After: To create dams that are clean, accessible and holding water.

A pristine dam with no weeds, accessible surrounds and clear water that is reflecting the blue sky.

  • Jake and team at Rolla Construction did an excellent job in cleaning out our dams.

From the beginning, when meeting with Jake, he was straight forward in explaining what can be done and what might lead to a more constructive result. He explained everything in detail and so was the execution of the job. Jake knows his work, precision, neat and tidy, an excellent finish. A job well done.
